Since Attorney General Doug Gansler is currently running for governor, a number of candidates are vying for his soon-to-be vacant position in Maryland. While attending a mixer for the Governor's Commission on Environmental Justice and Sustainable Communities, during the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland's 2013 Weekend Conference, one candidate introduced himself to me. Jon S. Cardin, Maryland delegate for District 11 in Baltimore County, sparked my desire to follow the race, and remind you about it, too.
I recently took a moment to visit his website www.joncardin.com to begin to read up on his political beliefs, and his professional reputation. I also discovered that he pushed for cyber bullying legislation. Overall, the nephew of U.S. Senator Ben Cardin seems to have a track record of working hard on behalf of his constituents. Thus far, I did appreciate that he was personable and interested in everyone, including those who weren't on a VIP list.

Delegate Bill Frick and State Senator Brian Frosh also have their hats in the ring along with Delegate Aisha N. Braveboy (D-Prince George’s). Del. Braveboy, the Chair of the Maryland Black Caucus Foundation, reportedly played an active role in fighting for HBCUs to recieve more state funding.
